I went to bed earlier than usual last night at about 10 PM. So, I was up early after only 5 hours sleep. Later in the morning I napped for 2 hours. Then, in the late afternoon, at about 4 PM, I napped for another 2 hours. So, it was a 2 nap day. That’s what happens when you start getting old. HeHe! I listened to more than half of my OMD collection today. I love their music. I will finish up tomorrow with the rest of the collection. I like listening to my favorites all the way through, chronologically, from their 1st album to their last. I have several complete collections now. And some of them are still alive. As you can tell, I love music. And I love all kinds of music.
I am a big fan of science fiction. The old classic kind written by Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein, Bradbury & even older classics like Jules Verne’s Mysterious Island & First Men in the Moon and Edgar Rice Burroughs’s John Carter of Mars series. I was also exposed to the science fiction films of the 60s & 70s via radio up until 1965 or so & then almost exclusively via television after that.
I watched the original Star Trek series & Lost in Space & the original Battlestar Galactica TV series with Lorne Greene in it playing the role of Commander Adama. And, I watched Space 1999 with Martin Landau in it. Among classic science fiction movies many made a huge impact. So did movies that more properly belonged in the horror genre. I had nightmares about zombies for years after I watched the original black & white version of Night of the Living Dead by George A. Romero. The black & white made it even more horrific. I was definitely traumatized by that film.
There were other films that really impacted me. The original Day the Earth Stood Still & the 1953 version of War of the Worlds with Gene Barry in it. This Island Earth. When Worlds Collide. Robinson Crusoe On Mars. Invasion of the Body Snatchers, both old versions. The Thing, all three generations of it. The Fly, all of them. Most of the core zombie apocalypse genre & as many doomsday movies as I can find.
No doubt, the Mind of my Imagination is on Fire.
